Brownbread Stud
Highland Ponies
| Brownbread Highland Pony Open Day Visitors came from all over the south east and as far away as Nottingham and Herts. to enjoy the company of the other Highland enthusiasts on the annual June Open Day. (14th June) During the buffet lunch folk chatted and enjoyed the spectacular views, exchanging photos and pony tack. Afterwards an informative and entertaining display on Natural Horsemanship was kindly given by Cat Bray and Laira Armstrong. They used Albi Charman-Ord's 7year old mare, "Brownbread Jubilee" and the 3yr old part-bred filly "Brownbread Mermaid". The demonstration was followed by a conducted walk around the 50 acres to see the stallions, "Duke of Glengary of Dykes", now 28yrs old and "Silverfox Snowstorm". Duke was running with his six visiting mares which included three that have been sold to Switzerland to start the first Highland Pony stud there. These are "Orla of Glenshiel", "Newbridges Jubilee" and "Sheenagh of Inverdarroch". The other two awaiting transport to Switzerland are "Brownbread Rosella" and "Lochmore Countess of Buchan". Nine broodmares, foals, yearlings and two & three year olds showed off their beautiful, unusual Rhum colours. Tea and cakes were enjoyed on the lawns and some visitors cooled off with a dip in the pool. Regards Tony Smith Brownbread Stud, Ashburnham Battle E Sussex. TN33 9NX 01424 892381 |
